‘Jose’s type of player’: Some Spurs fans urge club to snap up 6ft 3in ‘monster’ ahead of Arsenal

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been discussing the report in The Mirror claiming Spurs are now leading the race to sign Kim Min-jae ahead of the likes of Arsenal.

(21/06, p72) has claimed that Tottenham are frontrunners for the Beijing Guoan and South Korea defender, a player reportedly sought after by numerous European clubs.

It has been stated that Tottenham ace Son Heung-min – Kim’s international teammate – could be key to negotiations, with Spurs seemingly hoping he can tempt the centre-back to join.

According to a report in , Kim is also on Everton’s radar, while claims the 23-year-old’s displays for the Chinese Super League side have attracted interest from the Gunners.

The 30-times capped ace apparently wants to play in England, putting the likes of Spurs ahead of RB Leipzig, Lazio, Porto and PSV Eindhoven, who are all reportedly in pursuit.

Watford reportedly tried to sign the “Korean Van Dijk” in the past (), while Southampton are said to have enquired about the 6ft 3in defender, nicknamed “The Monster” due to his height and physicality.

Kim rose to prominence with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the South Korean top flight, winning the league in 2017 and 2018 and being named in the division’s team of the season on both occasions.

He then joined Beijing Guoan for a reported £4.5million in January 2019 and has continued to progress as a player, with claiming the Chinese Super League club is willing to sell the £13.5million-rated ace.
