Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce have now made contact to sign £12m Newcastle player this week
Newcastle’s transfer window didn’t go as well as they’d hoped and now it could get even worse with the loss of a key squad player.
The Toon didn’t manage to bring in the names and faces they wanted and Eddie Howe made no secret of being disappointed with how things had panned out.
Of course, the transfer window is still open for parts of the world and that means Premier League clubs know they could still lose players.
Newcastle are among a group of English teams with players who could be deemed surplus.
And now, according to Sky Sports’ Rob Dorsett, Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce are among a cluster of clubs to have made contact with right-back, Kieran Trippier.

Fenerbahce make contact to sign Kieran Trippier
Taking to X to confirm the news on Trippier and interest from Turkey, Sky’s Rob Dorsett has said that Fenerbahce are among three from Turkey to make contact.
Newcastle paid to sign Trippier back in 2022 and he’s been a key part of the rise of Newcastle since PIF took over.
Despite dropping down the pecking order, Trippier featured regularly for England in the Euros last summer and is very much admired by Eddie Howe as a key player.
Trippier has a big call to make
West Ham tried to sign Trippier in the summer window and that move was rebuffed but you do wonder if a switch to Turkey might appeal.
Everton have also tried to sign Trippier and looking at their results, they really could do with someone like him.
Of course, the Jose Mourinho factor could also play a part here and Trippier could well be open to working with such an esteemed coach.
The right-back, then, could have a big decision on his hands.
