Jose Mourinho may have a new favourite at Tottenham
Jose Mourinho may well have a new favourite at Tottenham Hotspur, with Steven Bergwijn seemingly becoming a preferred option for The Special One.
The Netherlands international was in the starting XI once again at the weekend, taking up a right-wing position against Crystal Palace.
It was the fourth league game in a row the £27 million signing from PSV Eindhoven () has started, which is something he deserves credit for.

Bergwijn was actually sent home from international duty during the last break for lacking fitness (), and that was at a time he wasn’t getting opportunities at Spurs.
To his credit he has knuckled down and has certainly been putting a shift in – and Mourinho seems happy with his contributions.
Workhorse Bergwijn appears to have become a favourite of Mourinho’s at the moment, assuming the title from Lucas Moura who now hasn’t started a game in the Premier League since October 26.
Since then, he’s managed just 32 minutes of pitch time, although he has had some chances in the Europa League.
TBR’s View – Bergwijn leading the pecking order
He started with a bang, then faded away, and now Bergwijn appears to be back in favour, meaning Moura is now feeding off scraps.

He’s been a big player for Mourinho since the 57-year-old’s arrival at the club a year ago, but right now it seems the £80,000-a-week Brazilian () has slipped back down the pecking order.
Arguably, one of the big reasons Mourinho regularly started him was due to his superb work-rate.
Now Bergwijn is showing improved levels of fitness and a desire to do the dirty work, the former Paris Saint-Germain star has work to do if he is to wrestle back his ‘Mourinho favourite’ title away from his wing rival.
