Jose Mourinho gives injury update on Tottenham defender Ben Davies
Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has suggested that Ben Davies is still someway off returning from injury.
Davies, 27, is currently sidelined with a calf problem, and hasn’t featured for the north London club since 21 March.
Mourinho has confirmed that the £60,000-a-week () Welsh left-back is unavailable for Spurs’ trip to Goodison Park on Friday night to face Everton in the Premier League, which is a huge match in the race for the top-four positions.
Teammate Matt Doherty is another senior player that will be absent for the trip to Merseyside.
“Doherty and Davies out [against Everton],” Mourinho confirmed in his press conference, as quoted by .
“[Doherty’s] not ready for tomorrow, he’s not ready but he’s coming. Ben Davies not even close to that.”

TBR’s View:
It sounds like Davies is still a way off a return, something which is far from ideal.
The full-back is second in the pecking order behind Sergio Reguilon for the left-back position, but he’s still made 38 appearances across all competitions this season.
With Davies out of action, it means that Reguilon will be forced to start.
Spurs have crucial league games with Everton and Southampton coming up in the next few days, but Mourinho surely has one eye on his team selection for next Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.
It won’t be a surprise to see one or two individuals rotate next Wednesday against Southampton ahead of the cup final. However, it’s difficult for anybody else to rotate with Reguilon.
