Jose Enrique thinks Liverpool should re-sign Rhian Brewster next summer, or year after
Jose Enrique has suggested on Instagram that Liverpool should consider re-signing Rhian Brewster from Sheffield United either next summer or in 2022, after the young England striker completed a move to the Blades last Friday.
Brewster, 20, became Sheffield United’s club-record signing after the Blades agreed a £23.5million move with the Premier League champions for the England Under-21 star. He managed just four senior Reds outings before his exit, failing to score.
However, Brewster is considered one of England’s future stars and impressed on loan at Swansea City in the Championship last season after joining the Welsh outfit in January on loan. He scored 11 goals in 22 outings.
Brewster has cost £23.5million, and will have a 15% sell-on clause. It is also reported that Liverpool have a buyback clause which will last until 2023, and Enrique reckons Liverpool should re-sign him next season – or in 2022.
TBR’s view – Is Brewster move basically a loan?
Sheffield United have landed themselves a proper talent. Brewster has all the tools required to be a regular goalscorer in the Premier League, and getting that top-tier exposure is crucial – something which he struggled to do at Anfield.
A specific fee will be included with the buyback clause and re-signing the player would give Sheffield United a tidy profit. But the inclusion of the clause will hang over Brewster’s head for quite some time, unless he signs a new deal.
If Liverpool want him back, they will have him back – and that means Sheffield United have little power over Brewster’s future.
