‘Jose don’t disappoint us’, ‘he better start’: Some Spurs fans want 25-year-old to play on Thursday
A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have urged Jose Mourinho to name Carlos Vinicius in the starting XI for Spurs’ midweek Europa League game.
The 25-year-old striker has enjoyed a bright start to life at Tottenham since joining on loan from Benfica last month.
Vinicius has made two appearances for Spurs so far, and though he’s yet to score, he has notched up two assists, both in the Europa win over LASK.

However, the Brazilian was one of four players taken off at half time in the loss to Antwerp, and then missed out on the matchday squad for the win over Brighton.
Vinicius’ absence from the squad to face the Seagulls appeared harsh, given he was one of Tottenham’s better players in the opening 45 minutes in Belgium, providing a focal point for their attack and showing good hold-up play.
According to , Vinicius did not have an injury and it was simply a decision made by Mourinho for the game along with the other players left out, the Portuguese seeking to send a message that nobody’s place in a matchday squad is safe.
With a trip to Ludogorets coming up on Thursday night, some Tottenham fans on social media reckon Vinicius should be reinstated:
He was poor in Antwerp, so I’m not surprised he wasn’t in the squad. Give him a chance on Thursday and take it from there. He played well in the first game and poor in the second, lets judge him after at least 6 matches, he’s trying to find his feet in a new team and system.

He won almost every long ball he received! If bergwjin and lamela would’ve made their runs we would’ve had some pretty great chances

this guy looks like he could be a beast for us.
Jose don’t disappoint us you said we needed a back up striker , imagine if Kane got injured vs Brighton and we had no striker in the squad at that moment… would you have put Son up top and Gareth out wide or something??— Emanuela Oppong (@Manu23588)
