Jordan Pickford raves about Everton teammate Fabian Delph

Jordan Pickford has praised Fabian Delph for the impact he’s made at Goodison Park following his arrival in the summer.

The Toffees paid £9million () to bring the midfielder to Merseyside from Premier League champions Manchester City.

He’s arrived as a no-nonsense central midfielder and already looks an important part of Marco Silva’s squad.

After missing the opening weeks of the season, Delph has started the last five consecutive games across all competitions.

The 28-year-old is a left-footed ace with a great range of passing and is comfortable in possession, but also has an ugly side to his game with great defensive awareness and aggression when he needs it.

Pickford, who already knows Delph from England international duty, believes he’s already made a positive impact with the Everton group and brings great experience.

“He’s settled quickly. He’s a great lad, all the lads buzz off him, he shows his qualities out on the training pitch and that shows on game day as well,”

“His quality is second to none, he can find a pass and he’s not scared to get on the ball, which City players aren’t. It’s great to have someone like Delphy in the squad, more leaders the better and I would class him as a leader, as well as many others, in the squad.”

Delph looked like a good signing when Everton got it over the line in the summer and so it’s turned out to be.

The all-action midfielder has managed to cement his spot in the starting XI and he’s been vitally important during the injury absence of Andre Gomes.

Everton host Manchester City on Saturday evening in the league and they are going to need Delph’s tenacity in the centre of the park to help compete against his former side.
