‘I see him in training’: Jordan Henderson says rarely used Liverpool player has a ‘huge impact’ at Kirkby
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been discussing his teammates with Rio Ferdinand and has praised the attitude of Divock Origi in the process.
Origi is still very much a squad player at Anfield. The Belgian is being tipped to move this summer as well as he finally looks to seek out a home where he’ll play more regularly. But, he has still produced big moments for Liverpool over the years and developed cult-hero status in the process.

One of those big moments was in the Champions League final. Origi fired into the bottom corner to seal the win for the Reds against Spurs a few years back. And watching that clip back and speaking about Origi, captain Henderson says it’s not a surprise to him.
“To be fair to Div, I see him in training, that’s standard for him. When he shifts it onto his left I’m thinking there’s a chance. Let and right foot he can just drill it in the bottom bin every time,” Henderson told
“I don’t think he’ll say that (that he is a super sub), I think he’ll still want to be starting. But to be fair to Div, his attitude to not start games and continue to have a huge impact and affect games, in big games as well, in derbies, and big games when we’ve needed him. He comes up with big moments and he’s a big player for us.”
TBR’s View: Origi A Liverpool Legend
Some Liverpool players go down in the history books for being the very best at their craft. The likes of Dalglish, Fowler, and Gerrard just a few who enjoy such status at Liverpool.
But Origi’s name will live long in the memory for different reasons. He has had such an impact in games when being hardly used from the start that he is a legend among fans.
If Origi does go this summer, he’ll go with the blessing of everyone and Henderson’s assessment of him here is a nice testament to the Belgian striker.
