Jonny Hayes predicted Celtic coach John Kennedy would get a managerial job amid Hibernian links

Celtic player Jonny Hayes predicted that John Kennedy would become a manager one day, .

After Celtic’s 2-0 win over Motherwell, Hayes was speaking to the media about assistant manager Kennedy. Hayes hailed Kennedy’s influence on the team and tipped him for a bright future in coaching.

Hayes said that it is “obvious” that Kennedy will become a manager one day. Ironically, just a few days later, Kennedy has been contacted about the vacant Hibernian job, .

However, Hayes also added that he doesn’t believe Kennedy will leave just yet. The 32-year-old said Kennedy is “Celtic through and through”. But he does believe he has the credentials to carve out a successful managerial career.

Speaking at the weekend, Hayes said (): “It’s obvious he’s going to be a manager one day. The work here he does, he’s been enormous behind the scenes.

“He was a great player but he’s an outstanding coach. He’s Celtic through and through as well, so I can’t see him leaving. At least I hope not!”

Hayes feels that Kennedy has the temperament and tactical nous to become a success at Hibs. Kennedy has worked with these players under Brendan Rodgers and Neil Lennon so the current group know about his tactical strengths.

It would be a big move for Kennedy, who will probably have his eyes on the Celtic job in the future.
