Jonjoe Kenny’s injury has struck at the worst possible time

Everton look set to use Ben Godfrey at right-back again this weekend, following the injury suffered by captain Seamus Coleman against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby last weekend. 

The Irishman looks set for a little spell on the sidelines and thesummer recruit from Norwich City performed admirably out of position when called upon at Goodison Park last week. 

But this series of incidents once again highlights the bad luck Jonjoe Kenny is suffering at Everton. 

Following an impressive season on loan at Schalke last term, plenty of teams would have been keen on signing Kenny this summer. 

However, Everton decided to stick by the England under-21 star and give him a chance as the main deputy to Coleman.

This should be his moment to shine and establish himself as a major player in the current Everton revolution.

Unfortunately, Kenny himself is on the sidelines with an ankle injury suffered in the EFL Cup win over West Ham United. 

It is not clear whether Kenny will be back this weekend but Godfrey performed so well in the derby that he has now established himself as a genuine option at full-back, given Kenny another hurdle to play in his right-back role. 

The 23-year-old has been working hard to get his Everton chance and this would have been the perfect opportunity to prove himself. 

This injury might have come at the worst possible time.
