Jonjoe Kenny not surprised by Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s fine form
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s impressive form has caught many by surprise this season. The England under-21 international has always been a hard-working forward but not many Everton fans felt he would ever find his scoring streak.
Well, particularly since Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival, DCL has been in fantastic form. His record of 15 goals in 32 games this season had him on track for an England call-up before football was suspended.

But one man who was not surprised is another Everton talent currently having a breakout season.
Jonjoe Kenny is on loan at Schalke 04 and having a fine season with the German side. Speaking , he suggested how Calvert-Lewin has found a more ruthless scoring streak.
“He’s always had everything really. He looks a lot bigger and stronger now. The big thing was that he used to do a lot of running off the ball when he was younger, an unlimited amount of running into the channels. You’ve got to go into those areas but I think he’s learning that, to be at his best, he doesn’t have to make runs for the sake of it. He’s making clever runs.
“He’s another player who has a lot of belief in himself, so it wasn’t really anything to worry about when he got a bit of stick.”
There is no doubt that Calvert-Lewin has become a little cuter with his attacking play. In the past, he was often nowhere to be seen when a ball flashed across the face of the goal but now, the speedster is finding himself in the right place at the right time.
Is that down to Ancelotti or first-team coach Duncan Ferguson? They have likely played their part but the man mostly responsible for Calvert-Lewin’s uptick in form is DCL himself.
Hopefully, it can continue when Everton get back into action.
