Jonjoe Kenny focusing on Schalke with Everton having bigger issues to worry about

Jonjoe Kenny has made it clear he is yet to hear much from Everton regarding his future at the club and he is currently focused on finishing the Bundesliga season with Schalke.

The England under-21 right-back returned to action with Schalke at the weekend as the Bundesliga got back into action after the recent lockdown due to the global health crisis.

Kenny, who struggled in a 4-0 loss to local rivals Borussia Dortmund, has been linked with both a return to Everton next summer as well as a Schalke stay.

Speaking to the media in Germany yesterday Kenny made it clear there was not much to discuss.

“We still have eight games to go. I’m just focusing on it right now. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season, but at the moment it’s only about Schalke and the next eight games.

“I have not heard so much from Everton, as they are in a difficult phase. They have other things to focus on.

“As I mentioned earlier, my personal opinion is that I can’t think too much about my future yet. Bigger things are happening. I also have to take care of myself and make sure that I’m doing the right things here at Schalke.

“We don’t just want to stage the next eight games, we want to win. At the moment I cannot make a clear statement about my future.”

He suggested with Everton themselves working on a return to training after the lockdown period, the club likely had bigger issues on their plate than his future and that he was focused solely on life in Gelsenkirchen.

Everton are indeed likely to have Kenny back at the club at some point in the next few months.

there is a ‘99 percent’ chance that Kenny will return to Everton as Schalke cannot afford him.

Everton fans will no doubt want to see Kenny get a chance at Goodison Park after his successful season in Germany.

But for now, they and Kenny will have to wait until the Toffees are ready to start discussing his future.
