Joleon Lescott hails Wolves striker Raul Jimenez
Joleon Lescott believes that Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez is a top player and feels he benefits in the system at Molineux.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has preferred a two-man attack during his time at Molineux, with Jimenez and Diogo Jota striking up a brilliant partnership over the last year.
They were both on the scoresheet on Thursday night, as the West Midlands club beat Italian side Torino away 3-2 in the first leg of a Europa League play-off qualifier.
Jimenez has started the new campaign with five goals in seven games across all competitions and is showing no sings of fatigue after helping Mexico win the Gold Cup during the summer.
The centre-forward dazzled at Molineux last season too, scoring 17 goals and supplying eight assists in 44 games across all competitions.
Ex-Wolves defender Lescott claims that Jimenez is a “clever” player that is great next to strike partner Jota.
“I think the fact they (Wolves) play two up front helps. Him (Jimenez) and Jota compliment each other very well, they do a lot of work off the ball,”
“Even in the those early stages of last season when he wasn’t scoring the goals, for the team he was working so hard. He’s a clever player and let’s not forget he’s an international that has played for Mexico a number of times and scored a lot of goals.”

TBR’s View:
Wolves have got an incredible player on their hands in Jimenez and it was so important that his loan deal was activated into a permanent one.
He’s someone that looks like scoring every time he steps on the pitch right now and it’s quite clear that the link up play with Jota is lethal in attack.
The 28-year-old looks at the peak of his powers right now and there is no reason he can’t eclipse last season’s goalscoring tally.
Jimenez finished his goal superbly well against Torino on his left foot after shrugging off defenders and is capable of scoring all types of goals.
