Joleon Lescott hails Manchester City star Phil Foden after Champions League display
Joleon Lescott was left amazed by talented youngster Phil Foden after his Manchester City performance last night in the Champions League.
Man City booked their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals after a 2-0 victory against German opposition Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday.
Pep Guardiola’s side secured a win on the night in comfortable fashion, which gave them a comprehensive 4-0 aggregate victory over the two legs.
Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a stunning left-footed shot from outside the box, before Ilkay Gundogan added a second soon after.
Lescott claimed in his post-match analysis that Foden’s attitude and work-rate is the difference that makes him a top player.
The 20-year-old left-footer provided a magical assist for Gundogan’s goal with his pass, and delivered another eye-catching display.
“You see in one of those clips him sliding to keep it in the final third, and that’s the difference with Phil,” Lescott told .
“He’s working with all these great players and obviously a great coach, but no one wants him to do better than himself. He watches training, so he’s addicted to football and he deserves every bit of credit.”

TBR’s View:
If England boss Gareth Southgate overlooks Foden from his XI at this summer’s European Championships, expect there to be huge criticism fired at him from supporters.
The youngster is now operating at such a top-class level, fitting in as one of the best performers among the other superstars at the Etihad Stadium.
The attacker, who starts as a left-winger but has licence to roam all over the pitch, pulled off a couple of superb pieces of skill against Monchengladbach.
But it’s his overall endeavour and passion for his boyhood club that stands out.
