Joleon Lescott and Leon Osman wax lyrical about Everton player
Everton recoded a memorable 5-4 win over Tottenham on Wednesday night, which is an FA Cup game that will surely be remembered for a long time.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side ended up on the right end of the 5-4 scoreline, as Bernard scored the winner in stoppage time with a brilliant left-footed finish.
But the star of the show for the Merseyside giants was Gylfi Sigurdsson, who has enjoyed a strong individual season so far.
The attacking midfielder was instrumental against his former club Spurs, scoring one goal and setting up three assists in the FA Cup fifth round tie.
He’s an experienced playmaker with 78 international caps for Iceland and has been impressing in English football for most of his club career, but last night was surely one of his best individual displays.
Former Toffees star Joleon Lescott singled Sigurdsson out in his post-match analysis.
“The composure for the penalty was nice, but the ball he played for Bernard was exquisite [for the winning goal],”
Meanwhile, another ex-Everton player Leon Osman was quick to sing his praises after the game.
“I think he was terrific and he’s been a real growing influence on Everton. He was involved in everything positive for Everton,”

TBR’s View:
If Everton fans were doubting whether or not Sigurdsson could still play a big role at Goodison Park, he’s shown them in the past couple of months that he’s important to the plans of Italian manager Ancelotti.
He’s been quite inconsistent for the Merseyside club since he joined back in 2017, but the arrival of James Rodriguez has perhaps lit a fire inside him and he’s showing he’s capable of spectacular displays.
