John Terry posts on Instagram as Carlo Ancelotti takes over as Everton manager

Aston Villa assistant manager and Chelsea legend John Terry worked under Carlo Ancelotti at Stamford Bridge for two years between 2009 and 2011 – and Terry has now sent a warm Instagram message to the Italian, who has taken over at Everton.

Chelsea won three trophies in Ancelotti’s first season – the Community Shield, Premier League and FA Cup. But the second time round was far from the same, and was sacked after failing to win the league – finished second behind Manchester United.

Many felt that was too soon for the Italian, who won 67 of his 109 games in the dugout. He has since managed some of the world’s best in Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Napoli. Now, he has moved to Everton.

It is believed that Arsenal were interested in Ancelotti, but instead Everton have swooped for the experienced Italian who was sacked by Napoli just hours after guiding the Serie A outfit into the last 16 of the Champions League with a 4-0 win over Genk.

At the other end of the spectrum, Terry is taking his first steps into the world of management – by cutting his teeth under the stewardship of Dean Smith at Villa. It remains to be seen when he will opt to take on his first, full managerial job.

Ancelotti’s captain while at Chelsea, Terry sent a nice, welcoming message to Ancelotti who returns to the Premier League for the first time in almost nine years – replacing Marco Silva at Everton where he has a serious job on his hands.
