John Terry makes Diego Costa claim amid Arsenal talks reports
John Terry has taken to Twitter to express his disbelief that Diego Costa is yet to find a new club and insist that he would improve any Premier League side – in comments that may perhaps catch the eye of those at Arsenal.
Costa is currently a free agent after leaving Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro. during the January transfer window that he had held talks with the Gunners regarding a possible move.
It was claimed that the 33-year-old was being eyed as a potential short-term option at the Emirates. And of course, the Gunners failed to sign a striker in the window.
Mikel Arteta’s men did a lot of business in January. However, it was almost exclusively players leaving the club involved in moves during the month.
And one of those to leave was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The striker looks set to complete a move to Barcelona.
Their two remaining strikers are Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah. And neither have been prolific in the Premier League this season.
In fact, Arsenal have not scored a single goal in their last four games in all competitions. And they have not strengthened the squad since then.
It would be a surprise if they used the free agent market at this stage. But Terry clearly feels that they could do a lot worse than sign Costa.
The Premier League winner did not send a message to any club in particular. But he did back the Spain international to be a success for any English side. And he implored someone to secure his signature…

Arsenal should not rule out Diego Costa move just yet
Clearly, a move for Costa would not be ideal for Arsenal. He is coming towards the end of his career. And he has not been prolific since the 2016/17 season with Chelsea. In total, he left Stamford Bridge with 52 goals in 89 Premier League games. He also won the league title on two occasions.
It would stun many if he ended up moving to Arsenal. But obviously, the Gunners have taken a huge gamble not signing another striker.
And if their hopes of making the top four start to fade due to a lack of goals, Arsenal may just want to consider heeding Terry’s advice.
