John Terry and Aaron Ramsey react as player departs Aston Villa on loan
Frederic Guilbert returned to Strasbourg on loan from Aston Villa on deadline day – prompting reaction from John Terry and Aaron Ramsey.
Guilbert, 26, has endured a tricky time at Villa since completing a £5million move to Villa Park from SM Caen in January 2019.
He spent the remainder of the 2018-19 season on loan at Caen, managing just 31 appearances for Villa over the course of the next 18 months.
Guilbert then moved to France in January 2021, joining Strasbourg and he impressed. In 14 games, he had a hand in five goals – including four assists.
on deadline day after completing a return to Strasbourg on loan – this time for the entire 21-22 campaign.
Guilbert rejoins Strasbourg: Villa ace Ramsey and Terry react
It is the right move for Guilbert. Matty Cash continues to shine at Villa and while it leaves the Midlands side without proper cover, it needed to happen.
Of course, Kortney Hause is more than capable of playing on the right side of the defence – though naturally, the ex-Wolves man is a centre-back.
Guilbert joins a side that he knows well, a side that he performed well for. Clearly, he is capable of his best form at Strasbourg in Ligue 1.
While he may have wanted a move before deadline day, Guilbert finally rejoins Strasbourg from Villa. Terry and Ramsey have responded.
