John Obi Mikel thinks £50m player wants to leave Chelsea after watching him really closely

John Obi Mikel certainly knew what it took to be a winner at Chelsea, a midfielder who won two Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea fans will now hope that Enzo Maresca’s side are heading on a similar trajectory to the level of the side that John Obi Mikel thrived in, one that also won the Champions League.

And after claiming glory in the Europa Conference League just over a week ago, the right signs are emerging from this current crop of players.

However, Chelsea will still need to make significant changes and upgrades this summer before they can aim to be involved in title chat once again.

And part of that progress may come at the expense of players like Christopher Nkunku, who played a minor role in last season’s success.

John Obi Mikel tells Chelsea to sell Christopher Nkunku this summer

That being said, Mikel has now sent Chelsea a clear message regarding Nkunku’s future when analysing their entire squad with .

The former Blue was asked to choose whether to ‘keep’ or ‘sell’ each member of Chelsea’s squad right now, and when it came to Nkunku, Mikel’s answer was very clear.

After watching the former RB Leipzig player, Mikel concluded that Nkunku didn’t want to be at Chelsea, leading to his verdict that it was time to ‘get some money’.

Mikel said: “Sell. When I look at Nkunku I don’t think he wants to be at the football club.

“I was really excited about his signing, but it just hasn’t worked. He’s played out of position sometimes and he’s had injuries, but he looks a shadow of the player we saw at RB Leipzig.

“He has not lived up to the expectations. Let’s get some money for him.”

Tottenham are interested in Christopher Nkunku

In terms of selling Nkunku this summer, TBR Football understands that it would cost somewhere near £50m to prise the Frenchman away from Stamford Bridge.

And with that being said, Tottenham are interested in Nkunku according to reports, a player who might fit Ange Postecoglou’s fluid attack quite nicely.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t currently appear as if Postecoglou will be in charge at Chelsea’s rivals next season, meaning the club’s transfer objectives could suddenly shift.

Nkunku might be open to joining Tottenham this summer, but as stated, it remains to be seen if any serious approach will arrive from north London.

A seriously talented player, but one who just hasn’t been able to show the best of his ability at Chelsea.
