Didier Drogba didn’t like Luiz Filipe Scolari
Mikel spoke about Che🐬lsea’s time under the World Cup winner.
The midfielder says that life under Scolari started really well,𒀰 but things started to take a turn for the🌠 worst when Didier Drogba started to kick up a fuss.
Drogba app𒊎arently wasn’t happy with Scolari due to his lack of gametime, and, ultimately, he wanted the manager sacked.
“We started the season really well. I was playing a💞 major part in that,” Mikel sai🔯d.
“But all of a sudden we started losing game✤s. Now, when I look back the problem was that the main man wasn’t playing. Scolari preferred Nicolas Anelka over Didier Drogba.
“When you have such a big ego, a big player, the number one guy and all of a sudden he’s not playing. He’s walking around the training ground, sulking, not happy, walking around grumpy, it wraps ar🔯ound everybod📖y.
“You look at him knowing he’s not happy and it starts to affect the t🌌eam. That ♒started to affect us, because you know he should be playing, he’s the main man. When we started losing games, you start thinking, the bad period is coming and the main man is not playing.
“He ✃was sitting there thinking ‘even if I come in the second ha𝔉lf, I won’t help you guys, because I want this manager gone. I want the club to bring someone who will favour me, it’s just how it worked,’ Our football club back then was run like a mafia. Didier, Frank, JT, Petr Cech, those guys were the mafia. If they’re not playing they will let the owner know.”
Didier Drogba record under Scolari
Drogba apparently didn’t like life under Scola🧔ri, and that was shown in his stats under the 📖Brazilian.
Drogba was a great striker in his time. In fact, Drogba was better than Wayne Rooney at his best according to some.
Howeཧver, under Scolari, he really couldn’t get going, scoring just three goals in 21 appearances under the𓃲 Brazilian.
Games | Goals | Assists | |
---|---|---|---|
Didier Drogba record under Luiz Filipe Scolari | 21 | 3 | 0 |
Nicolas Anelka was Scolari’s 𒊎preferred choice, and his stats were much better under Scolari.
Games | Goals | Assists | |
---|---|---|---|
Nicolas Anelka record under Luiz Filipe Scolari | 33 | 17 | 1 |
Anelka himself was a top class striker. Gary Neville said Anelka was unbelievable in his pomp, and, in a lot of ways, 🥃he found his best form under Scolari.
Unfortunately, as Mikel says, Chelsea at that 𓂃time was run very much by the long-serving players, and as soon as Drogba decided that Scolari wasn’t for him, his shelf life at Stamford Bridge was limited.
