John McGinn buzzing with news coming from Aston Villa

John McGinn has been left delighted with news announced by Aston Villa on Monday.

It was been an eventful summer for the Villans so far, with Douglas Luiz leaving for Juventus in a deal which also saw Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea move to Villa Park.

There has since been another development at Aston Villa – one that John McGinn is very happy about…

John McGinn left pleased as Ross Barkley returns to Aston Villa

Aston Villa also announced the signing of Ross Barkley from Luton on Monday.

The England international spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Villa Park from Chelsea – scoring three goals in 26 Premier League appearances – and is now back in the Midlands after a stunning season with the Hatters last term.

Barkley was named Luton’s Player of the Season after scoring five goals and providing four assists in 32 Premier League appearances, including strikes against Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea.

After the 30-year-old announced his return to Aston Villa on Instagram, McGinn wrote “Yesssss Laaaa” as the Scotland international did his best Scouse impression for the Liverpudlian.

Chelsea No.24 Reece James also sent Barkley a message, writing “yess bro, so happy for you!!” in the comments section.

Luton defenders Teden Mengi and Omari Belli also got in touch with the Aston Villa new boy, writing “All the best bro” and “congrats” respectively.

Masterclass from Monchi

Every club wants to sign young options with plenty of resale value nowadays, although the signing of an experienced 30-year-old for just £5m is excellent business from Monchi.

Barkley may struggle to replicate Douglas Luiz’s 2023/24 campaign, which involved ten goals and ten assists in 53 appearances from central midfield, but he is capable of it.

Therefore, it could be argued that Monchi has signed a like-for-like replacement for the Brazilian, in a deal which also saw two bright talents in Iling-Junior and Barrenechea move to Villa Park as well.
