John Kennedy singles Celtic player out for praise, he’s been working really hard in training
Celtic interim manager John Kennedy has praised Leigh Griffiths for how hard he’s been working in training and not missing a single session for as long as he can remember.
The 30-year-old has struggled for game time this season, clocking up a mere nine starts in all competitions, and none in the league since January.
Griffiths’ lack of game time has led to speculation linking him with a move away – according to the , both Hibernian and Aberdeen have him on their radars.
The outlet claims that the Scotland international is under contract until 2022 but has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for free.
Speaking ahead of Celtic’s Scottish Cup clash with Rangers on Sunday, Kennedy urged Griffiths to keep working hard and “we’ll see what develops over the coming weeks” in terms of game time.
The Bhoys interim boss also thinks Griffiths can still be an asset for his country, but again, he must continue to keep his head down and work hard.
“With Leigh the opportunities, because of the quality we’ve got in the squad, it’s not always easy to get everyone game time,” Kennedy is quoted by the as saying.
“Very much for Scotland they would love a Leigh Griffiths firing but for us we have to make sure we make the right decision for each game.
“Leigh’s trained, he’s not missed a session in the last period of time, as long as I can remember. He’s trained every day, he’s working hard, game time has been hard to come by.
“Just down to decisions in games and games, so he just has to keep working and make himself available and we’ll see what develops over the coming weeks.
“Then Steve (Clarke) will have a decision to make on that.”
