John Hartson teases Rangers, while Jon Inge Berget posts on Instagram as Malmo win

For Rangers and Scottish football, it was bitterly disappointing night at Ibrox. Tasked with beating Malmo to reach the Champions League play-off round, Rangers fell short against the Swedish side – losing 2-1 again. John Hartson has teased Rangers, while Jon Inge Berget reacted on Instagram.

Steven Davis’ injury-time goal gave Rangers hope last week. On Tuesday night in front of a packed-out Ibrox – many expected that Steven Gerrard’s side would come from behind in the tie and cruise into the knockout round. Alfredo Morelos opened the scoring and it looked like it was going well.

A red card to Malmo star Bonke Innocent just before the break threw the tie into the favour of Rangers. But even though they were playing against 10 men, Antonio Colak was impressive. The one-time Croatia international scored a second-half brace as Malmo won 4-2 on aggregate.

Hartson and Berget react as Rangers suffer Malmo defeat

Rangers failed to show the finishing touch that had got them into the position of a Champions League qualifier in the first place. Eventually, they ended up shooting from long ranger – Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi both blasting the ball into the stands from 25 yards. Europe League, again.

Having watched Celtic lose on aggregate to FC Midtjylland in the same qualifying process – Hartson teased Rangers by highlighting they have lost three games in a row. Ex-Celtic man Berget, who played 83 minutes for Malmo, – “a good night in Glasgow”.
