John Hartson comments on ‘flat’ Celtic after draw with Livingston

John Hartson has criticised Celtic following their draw with Livingston on Saturday, where a point means they won’t be able to clinch the Scottish Premiership title this weekend.

Neil Lennon’s team were held to a draw at Parkhead by ninth-placed Livingston and they lacked a clinical touch in front of goal.

The Bhoys had 73 per cent possession and 18 shots, but couldn’t find a way through despite their dominance.

Ex-Celtic ace Hartson was critical of his former side by claiming everything was “flat” for the hosts, while he also feels that they were missing Leigh Griffiths.

Griffiths, 28, has not played since December while he deals with mental health issues.

The centre-forward has now returned to training and has shown in his career he can be a goal machine, but there is no timeframe on when he could return to the pitch.

“Watched the Celtic game today.. felt a little bit flat.. not clinical enough in the box.. needed a Leigh  Griffiths to bang a few goals in for us!”

TBR’s View:

Griffiths will be a welcomed return for the Scottish giants, but perhaps the club should consider trying to find an additional striker option for next season.

Odsonne Edouard has had some great moments so far this season, but not quite hit the mark consistently enough and there is room for improvement.

Celtic all but have the league wrapped up despite the weekend’s blip against Livingston, but there is still plenty to play for.

The result shouldn’t do Lennon many favours if the interim boss wants to land the role permanently, while there is still a Scottish Cup semi-final with Aberdeen around the corner next week.
