John Aldridge laughs off Henderson or Wijnaldum covering in Liverpool’s defence
Liverpool legend John Aldridge believes it is now paramount for the Reds to bring in a new centre-half in January.
Jurgen Klopp now has no fit senior centre-halves, after Joel Matip was forced off against West Bromwich Albion with an adductor issue.
The extent of the damage to the Cameroonian has not yet been disclosed, but the player’s record with injuries suggests the situation doesn’t bode well.

Klopp does have young Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips to call upon, but both are obviously inexperienced.
Some have floated the idea of £20 million star Jordan Henderson () or Gini Wijnaldum () perhaps playing at the back, mirroring the transition that Brazilian star Fabinho has made.
He has been excellent in the backline since the injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Aldridge has laughed off that particular situation, : “Fabinho has been brilliant filling in at centre-back, but the suggestion that captain Jordan Henderson or Gini Wijnaldum can play in there is nonsense.”
TBR’s View – Liverpool undoubtedly need to act
Henderson or Wijnaldum are both intelligent enough footballer to probably learn the role of centre-back and do a half-decent job.

But both players are key to the team in terms of what they bring to the midfield.
The situation now demands Liverpool act in January, and it needs to be somebody of quality and experience with a good injury record.
