John Aldridge bemoans Liverpool trio but has sympathy for Sadio Mane

John Aldridge has bemoaned Liverpool’s form in his Liverpool Echo column, suggesting the front three need to get their act together.

The champions relinquished their long-standing run of unbeaten home games in the Premier League last night.

Burnley ran out 1-0 winners at Anfield and it leaves Liverpool six points adrift of Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.

Aldridge believes Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane’s form is worrying for Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool face United in the FA Cup this weekend and a big result is badly needed.

Aldridge says the club’s current run of form has left him baffled.

He told the Liverpool Echo: “It dumbfounds me. It’s the attacking part that’s the problem and the front three have lost their mojo.

“Mane looks a threat, more so than Salah or Firmino. They look a pale shadow of the players we know they can be.

“The ball isn’t falling for them and the confidence isn’t there.”

Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah began last night’s game on the bench but both missed decent chances when they came on.

In the case of the Brazilian, he desperately needs a run of form after missing some gilt-edged chances against Manchester United.

It’s quite bizarre that with Liverpool missing several influential defenders it should be their attack that is struggling.

Klopp’s team have looked devoid of ideas since the turn of the year and they have to find a way to goal once again.

The loss of Diogo Jota has been telling for Liverpool and his ability to pull defenders from their position has been sorely missed.

It looks like he will be out of action for a little while longer yet and Klopp has to find a way to revive his team without him in the short-term.

The next couple of weeks look like being massive for the reigning champions.
