Joey Barton, Samir Nasri and plenty more react as Manchester City beat PSG

Man City booked their place in the Champions League final on Tuesday night with an excellent counter-attacking display against Paris Saint-Germain at The Etihad – and Joey Barton, Samir Nasri and plenty more have reacted.

Having beaten Mauricio Pochettino’s side 2-1 win in Paris last month, Man City were tasked with avoiding defeat to progress into a final where they will take on either Chelsea of Real Madrid. But they did better than that.

The defensive rearguard of John Stones and Ruben Dias provided City with the basis to go on and counter a PSG side that looked bereft of any ideas – other than to give Neymar the ball and hope for the best. Riyad Mahrez scored twice.

City cruised, in the end, to a 2-0 win after numerous blocks and interventions from Dias and Stones. PSG lost their heads and embarrassed themselves towards the end – Angel Di Maria being sent off for a petulant, child-like stamp.

All eyes will now switch to the other semi-final between Chelsea and Madrid, which is finely poised. Thomas Tuchel’s side earned an excellent 1-1 draw against Madrid away from home, but anything could happen in the second leg.

Plenty responded on Twitter to City’s brilliant win – with Joey Barton applauding the four defenders on Twitter. Samir Nasri, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Pablo Zabaleta also responded, with all boasting Man City on their CV.
