Joe Worrall recall could give Nikola Katic his chance at Rangers redemption

Rangers may be about to lose Joe Worrall. The centre-back has been on loan from Nottingham Forest since the start of the season and has recently become a regular at Ibrox.

However, the arrival of former Celtic boss Martin O’Neill at his parent club looks set to cause Rangers a problem. It is reported that O’Neill from his spell in Glasgow, leaving Rangers without a current starting central defender.

Which could act as a reprieve for one current Rangers player?

Nikola Katic lost his place in the Rangers team, and squad, toward the end of last year. Croatian international looked a talent at the start of the season but Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard took issue with some of his later performances and Worrall was soon in ahead of him.

If Worrall was to leave, Rangers may have to start bringing Katic back into the fold. It is unlikely the club are currently flush with money to bring in a replacement, after the recent arrivals of Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis.

Katic, however, is a top talent and could easily prove himself worthy of Worrall’s spot if given a chance.

He might secretly be hoping that Worrall does head back to England. It might give him a chance to resurrect his debut campaign at Ibrox.
