Joe Worrall posts heartfelt message to Rangers fans, as he returns to Nottingham Forest

Joe Worrall has sent a heartfelt message to Rangers fans on Twitter after his season-long loan from Nottingham Forest came to an end, following the 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Worrall, 22, played 32 times in all competitions for Rangers during his loan at Ibrox. He was somewhat indifferent throughout, starring in the 1-0 win over Celtic, but also guilty of a number of high-profile errors.

Rangers have decided against pursuing a permanent option for the England Under-21 international, or indeed another loan and that sees Worrall link back up with Martin O’Neill’s Championship side.

The defender posted an emotional message to Rangers fans on Twitter to announce that he would be returning to the City Ground, before thanking the Ibrox fanbase for their support throughout the season.

TBR’s view

Though he did impress in some matches and become first choice alongside Connor Goldson for a large part of the season, Rangers have made the right decision opting against signing Worrall beyond his loan.

There is plenty of potential in Worrall, but his error-prone reputation saw teams target him. If he is to take the next step and become a regular at Forest or a team on a level par, he will need to eradicate that from his game.

It remains to be seen what step Worrall takes next, but that will not be at Rangers.
