‘I promise you’: Joe Rodon says ‘amazing’ Tottenham player will definitely go into management one day

Which player is most likely to be a manager? It’s always a question that seems to do the rounds on the generic Q&A’s at Premier League clubs these days.

It’s a common question, and one that’s normally met with a stock answer about a certain member of the squad. It’s normally a player who’s shown some iota of intelligence or studies the game off the pitch that gets a mention. See, for example, people like Mikel Arteta at Arsenal or Scott Parker at Bournemouth.

At Tottenham, the question was put to both Joe Rodon and Ben Davies in the episode of ‘Pals’ presented on channel. And answering sharply, Welsh defender Rodon was quick to point out that his teammate Davies will be making the step into management next.

“Oh my god. He’s going to be a manager. 100%. He will be a manager one day, I promise you,” Rodon of Davies.

Davies – who Fabio Paratici branded as ‘amazing’ this weekend – is still only 28 and is featuring regularly for Tottenham at the moment. That means a venture into management is probably some way off for now.

TBR’s View: Davies Will Have Learnt From The Best

These interviews are always a bit tongue in cheek but you can see where Rodon is coming from. Davies ia an intelligent footballer and has worked hard to get to the very top.

Interestingly, Davies will have had the chance to work under some fine coaches by the time he’s done. Not many can call on Mourinho, Conte, and Pochettino as past managers. Therefore, you’d expect him to have picked up a number of tips.

Certainly, if Rodon’s comments are anything to go by, then Ben Davies is one to watch for the future in management.
