Joe Cole raves about Dele Alli’s display in Tottenham win
Joe Cole that he thought that Dele Alli was absolutely outstanding during Tottenham Hotspur’s win over West Ham, and insisted that he loved the midfielder’s post-match comments.
Alli stole many of the headlines as Spurs kicked off the Jose Mourinho era with a win. It looked as though it was going to be an emphatic victory for the visitors at the London Stadium as they took a 3-0 lead inside the first 50 minutes.

He provided the assist for the opening goal and then produced a moment of magic in the build-up to the second goal. Alli somehow managed to pass the ball behind him after falling on the floor.
It was a reminder of just how good the 23-year-old can be. But after the game, Alli told BT Sport that he was not content with rediscovering his old form as he wanted to be even better.

And Cole was not only full of praise for Alli’s display in the victory, but he was also delighted to hear the youngster’s comments about his form.
“I can see so many parallels between Dele Alli and Frank, the way [Mourinho] speaks about Dele,” . “And Dele’s interview was great as well because he said, ‘I don’t want to be the Dele Alli of two years ago, I want to be even better than that.’
“And I love that because that is great for England because he was absolutely outstanding today.”
Alli already stepping up a gear
It must be noted that Alli had already shown glimpses of his old form before Mauricio Pochettino’s departure. He had scored against Everton and provided an assist in the Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade.
But Mourinho appears to have already had an impact on Alli. And based on his display at the weekend, that could be devastating news for those hoping to stop Tottenham bouncing back this season.
