Joe Aribo has praised the impact of Rangers young pair Nathan Patterson and Kai Kennedy, as both were rewarded with debuts on Friday night.
Gers midfielder Aribo is an established member of the senior group at Ibrox and he played in the club’s 2-0 win over League One side Stranraer on Friday in the Scottish Cup fourth round tie.
Steven Gerrard’s team returned with a win after the international break and he decided to field a team that included some fresh faces.
Patterson, 18, earned his senior debut in at the right-back position and he impressed with his performance.
The full-back joined in with attacks well down the flank and he’s viewed as someone who can break into the first-team picture regularly in the future.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old winger Kennedy was substituted on for the final 10 minutes for a little cameo appearance and got his first taste of first-team action.
Aribo has revealed that the academy pair have been impressing in training after spending time in Dubai for a warm-weather training camp.
“They’ve (Patterson and Kennedy) been excellent even in training so it’s good that they managed to get their chance out there tonight. [Patterson] was amazing all night,”
TBR’s View:
Patterson slotted in nicely to the Rangers XI and was fairly expressive on the ball for a teenager making his debut.
Gerrard should look into possibly sending the teenager out on loan if there are any suitors, as he’s a great talent and looks ready to make a step up from youth level.
Kennedy is another exciting talent to look out for in the future and a senior debut should give him the confidence to kick on.
