Joao Moutinho makes transfer admission concerning Spurs; lauds Jose Mourinho
Joao Moutinho that he nearly joined Tottenham Hotspur earlier in his career, while he labelled Spurs boss Jose Mourinho iconic.
Moutinho has been a revelation since arriving at Molineux ahead of their latest spell in the Premier League. The Portuguese has contributed 14 assists in the top flight since the start of last season, having started 60 league games for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.

But it appears that it could have been another Premier League side who boasted Moutinho in their ranks had events played out differently.
Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Tottenham, the 33-year-old was asked about coming close to moving to North London at one stage in his career.
“It’s true, but it was some years ago. It didn’t happen, but now I’m here in Wolverhampton where I feel at home,” .
And ahead of the game, Moutinho explained how much he respects his countryman Mourinho.

“He is iconic. He’s going to be for all the time for what he’s already achieved, and also what he wants to achieve, because he’s not satisfied,” he added.
“Mourinho is not satisfied with what he has, he wants something more and more and more, and I think it’s the mentality we all need to be better and to do a better job.”
TBR View – Tottenham could do with Moutinho now
While Spurs have not exactly rued missing out on Moutinho in the past, it would perhaps be fair to suggest that they could have certainly done with a player like him now.
It has seemingly been difficult for Mourinho to find a settled midfield since his arrival. Injuries, fitness issues and form have all been hurdles that the Spurs boss has had to worry about clearing.
Moutinho has been an inspired signing for Wolves. And while he may turn 34 early on at the start of next season, there looks to be little reason why he cannot continue for some years yet.
