Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink hails £10m Aston Villa attacking target

Aston Villa have been heavily linked with Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers in recent days.

The Villans have made their move for the 21-year-old, reportedly submitting two offers in a bid to acquire his services.

According to , Boro have rejected both bids and aren’t happy with what they deem to be a lowball approach from Villa.

It remains to be seen whether the Villans will try again. According to , Boro value Rogers at around £10million.

Rogers was in Carabao Cup semi-final second leg action against Chelsea on Tuesday night and got on the scoresheet late on in the 6-1 loss.

A moment of individual brilliance from the reported Villa target gave the travelling Boro fans something to celebrate.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, speaking on ahead of the match, said he could understand why the Villans are after Rogers.

“Like him a lot,” he said. “Technically very good.

“Been brought up at Man City, was loaned out to Lincoln when I was at Burton. He is technically very good, strong.

“It didn’t work out at Bournemouth or Huddersfield. He has found a home I think now and is loving his football again.

“He also does the other side of the job, works really hard and can put the ball in the net. That’s why Aston Villa is after him.”

Rogers has been thoroughly impressive for Boro under Michael Carrick, with 33 appearances, seven goals and nine assists this term.

Villa will have enjoyed seeing his goal against Chelsea, as it shows he can impress against the elite teams as well.

Let’s see what happens in the coming days. If reports of a £10million price tag are true, then the Villans cannot pass up that opportunity.
