Jimmy Bullard is excited by West Ham this season

Jimmy Bullard has admitted he’s “excited” about West Ham’s prospects this year, while also picking out the early-season performances of Felipe Anderson as a big positive.

Manuel Pellegrini’s team have eight points from their opening five Premier League games, as well as progressing past the second round of the Carabao Cup.

They are hoping they can push towards the top six this season and try bring European football to the London Stadium.

Anderson, 26, is an ever-present in the XI that is going to be central to the team’s success during this campaign.

The left-winger has a couple of assists to his name so far across all competitions and has looked a serious threat out wide.

He’s a dazzling wide player with pace and skill that likes to take full-backs on, while he can be quite direct with his offensive play too.

Bullard, who had a brief spell at West Ham as a player and is a Hammers fan, has explained he’s extremely optimistic about his former side moving forward.

“We didn’t play as good as we have been [against Aston Villa], but I’m really excited. I haven’t been this excited as a West Ham fan, you know what we’ve been like,”

“I like the boy up front (Sebastien Haller) really, really good. Anderson has been on fire. I like the way we look so excited.”

TBR’s View:

West Ham certainly have a talented group of individuals that can rip anyone apart on their day, with trickster Anderson perhaps the best of the lot.

But Pellegrini needs to try find some consistency with his side if they are to finish in the European spots and there is a lot of pressure on him during his second year with the club.

Anderson will need to be one of the star attackers, while there is also the likes of Haller and Manuel Lanzini to throw into the equation.

Anderson played 40 games across all competitions last season, scoring 10 goals and supplying five assists in return.
