Jesse Marsch says Leeds star Liam Cooper will not play in friendly match tomorrow

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has confirmed that Liam Cooper and Leo Hjelde will not play in the friendly against Brisbane Roar tomorrow.
The Whites are hoping to have a much better campaign in the Premier League this time than they did last time out. Leeds were arguably lucky to survive last season, but there are a lot of reasons to be positive about ahead of the new campaign.
The football under Marsch probably isn’t as crazy as it was when Marcelo Bielsa was at the helm, but the way Leeds finished last season showed a lot of promise.
A good pre-season will help them start the new campaign strongly, but Marsch will have to do without two players tomorrow.
Jesse Marsch says Steve Cooper and Leo Hjelde will not play for Leeds tomorrow
Leeds flew over to Australia for their pre-season, and they will face Brisbane Roar, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa there before heading back to the UK.
Ahead of the friendly tomorrow, Marsch was asked about the injury concerns in his squad. He revealed that two players will definitely not be picked for the game on the Gold Coast on Thursday.
He said, as per : “I think [Cooper has] just got a little bit of an Achilles issue, and so we’re just being cautious and taking it day by day.
“He won’t play tomorrow. Leo Hjelde also has a small calf contusion so he won’t play, but the rest of the roster that’s here will be ready and prepared to play.”

Firpo’s out for eight weeks
30-year-old Cooper and Hjelde’s niggles are minor ones and Leeds fans have nothing to worry about there. However, Firpo’s injury is something to be concerned about.
The former Barcelona man hobbled off after 20 minutes against Blackpool last week and Marsch revealed that he will be out for .
That means Firpo will miss the start of the new Premier League season, which is a real shame.
It will be interesting to see if Marsch will dive into the market to bring in a replacement for Firpo in the coming days.
