‘We were going to’: Marsch says he was planning to start 30-year-old Leeds player in central midfield vs City
Leeds United have been rocked by the injury to Stuart Dallas in recent weeks, which has ruled him out for this season and possibly much of next as things stand.
Dallas needed surgery after suffering a fracture in his leg in what was a bit of a horror injury for the Northern Irishman.
The injury came as Leeds were beaten at home by Manchester City, with Jesse Marsch’s side now planted firmly back in the relegation mix thanks to results elsewhere. Losing Dallas was just the worst possible ‘icing on the cake’ in what was a miserable day at Elland Road.
Interestingly, however, Leeds boss Marsch has been while he is out injured. And the American revealed that he is confident in his squad, claiming that Dallas was set for a more central role had Liam Cooper not being ruled out.
“We have players in his roles and play them well, but thinking more about Stuart than how we replace him because I trust all of our players and I want him to be healthy and pain free. Before Liam withdrew we were going to play with Dallas as a six against City. We have enough to cover him,” Marsch told

This is an interesting take from Marsch on how he was planning to use Dallas and in a way, shows just how valuable he is to the Leeds squad.
The fact Marsch was planning to stick him in central midfield against the best team in the country shows how much he thinks about the versatile star. It suggests he has full trust in Dallas, in pretty much any area of the pitch.
Dallas being out injured is a big blow for Marsch and Leeds. Indeed, he’d be a loss for most teams at this level.
