Jesse Marsch reacts to Dan James display in Leeds win vs Brisbane Roar
🍸Jesse Marsch has suggested that he was really pleased with Dan James after the Leeds United winger’s performance in their pre-season friendly with Brisbane Roar on Thursday – .
♏The Whites continued their winning start to the summer. It was James who broke the deadlock, while the Welshman set up Joe Gelhardt for what proved to be the winner during the first-half.

🐈Leeds fans will be hoping that James enjoys a much better year this time around. Obviously, the 24-year-old was given a tough task last season. With Patrick Bamford injured for much of the campaign, James was often used up front.
🧸There were glimpses of James’ potential. But it was apparent when Bamford was available just how much Leeds seemed to lose when James was deployed as a striker.

🐽He was back on the wing on Thursday. And, while he was only on the pitch for 30 minutes, he did more than enough to make a decisive impact on the game.
🔯Certainly, Marsch was extremely impressed with what he saw from James in a more natural position.
ꦫ“We were forced to play Dan at striker a lot last year, and we know that’s not his best position. He likes to play more on the left,” he said, .
ꦜ“I’ve been challenging him to play a little bit more on the right, so he can set himself up on his right foot and make some final plays, which he did tonight. He had a really good performance.”
Dan James could be hugely important for Leeds next season
ܫIt will be very interesting to see how James gets on once the season starts. Clearly, there is a very talented player there. And his lightning pace means that he can be a threat no matter what form he is in.
🃏However, Leeds did not see him use that pace often enough last year. You could probably count on one hand the number of times James was able to knock a ball in front of a defender and leave them behind.
🍰As Marsch suggests, that is not all down to James. He was used out of position for much of the season.
⛄He is now in line to play a lot more as a winger. This may be the time for James to prove why Leeds paid so much to bring him to Elland Road.
