Jesse Marsch lauded Mateusz Klich after talks about his Leeds role

Jesse Marsch has lauded Mateusz Klich and suggested in that the air is completely clear between the two with the Leeds United star excited about his role going forward.

Klich, perhaps surprisingly, has faced an uncertain future at Elland Road. He has been a key man since coming back into the fold under Marcelo Bielsa.

However, Marsch hinted in pre-season that the door may be open for Klich to leave before the transfer window shut. Obviously, the 32-year-old will have his sights set on the World Cup later this year.

Klich is yet to start in the Premier League this season. But he has come off the bench in all three of their league games so far. He changed the game with his introduction against Wolves.

Klich was able to shine on Wednesday as Leeds won their Carabao Cup tie with Barnsley. The midfielder scored twice to prove a real point.

‘He’s excited about his role’

Leeds fans are hoping that he goes nowhere before the window shuts. And Marsch has seemingly confirmed that Klich is indeed set to stick around.

“I’m really happy with Klichy. He’s had to accept a different role, he and I have had really good conversations. I think the air is totally clear and he’s totally committed in every way to try and help the team in any way that he can,” he told .

“And I think he’s had good performances from the bench and then last night for 90 minutes, to get a good 90 minutes under him. He also played against Norwich in the under-21s and he was very good in that match as well.

“So I think he will continue to be a big factor for us and then how we rotate things, when we use him, how we use him, I think he’s excited about the role.”

Marsch has lauded Mateusz Klich

Klich has proved his doubters wrong several times since joining Leeds. Many would have written him off when he was loaned out after a handful of appearances in his first season.

And there were times under Bielsa when his form went off the boil. But he always found a way to make an impact on games. He also stepped up once Leeds were back in the Premier League.

It does appear that he is going to have to settle for a more peripheral role. But no-one should be at all surprised if he makes a significant contribution over the coming months.
