Jesse Marsch issues verdict on Jack Harrison display in Leeds win

Jesse Marsch has issued his verdict on the performance of Jack Harrison after the winger came on for the second-half of Leeds United’s stunning win over Norwich City on Sunday – .

Leeds have handed their hopes of staying in the Premier League a massive boost. It always appeared that their clash with the Canaries was absolutely a must-win.

There was certainly the potential for Leeds to secure a comfortable win. But perhaps, perhaps, in the long run, the dramatic 94th minute winner needed may ultimately have a bigger impact on their season.

Leeds did their best to throw the game away. They struggled to produce the same fluency in the second-half that they had before the break. And it appeared inevitable to many of the supporters that they would drop points.

Thankfully for Leeds, they were able to keep fighting after conceding a 91st minute equaliser. But it certainly was not ideal for the supporters.

Nevertheless, Marsch picked out Harrison as one Leeds player he felt shone after coming on at the break.

“I thought he was fantastic, I knew he was disappointed not to be in the first XI,” he said, . “I told him he was likely in almost every scenario to be the first sub to come on the pitch and give us what we needed.”

Harrison showing new Leeds boss Marsch exactly what he wants to see

Interestingly, Marsch suggested that he wanted Harrison in the build-up to Leeds’ latest game. And the fans certainly saw that side of the winger’s game against Norwich.

He had an incredibly feisty battle with Max Aarons. He was booked for stopping the right-back taking a throw-in, albeit in the wrong place. And he squared up to the Norwich man on a couple of occasions.

It was certainly a side of Harrison that Leeds fans have not seen too often during his time at Elland Road. And clearly, Marsch was extremely impressed by the contribution he made after replacing Patrick Bamford.

It will be interesting to see what Marsch now does with his next lineup having been happy with what Harrison showed in what could prove to be an absolutely vital win for Leeds.
