Jerzy Dudek comments on whether Steven Gerrard will join Liverpool

as saying that he firmly expects Rangers manager Steven Gerrard to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, when the German boss opts to leave Anfield.

Gerrard has impressed in his first spell as manager of Rangers, taking over a club that has enormous pressure to match that of Old Firm rivals Celtic. This season, many believe they could beat Neil Lennon’s side to the league title.

Though he failed to stop Celtic from completing their third consecutive treble, he did push Rangers into the group stage of the Europa League, finish second in the league for the first time since Rangers returned to the top flight, and beat Celtic twice.

Dudek, who was Gerrard’s teammate for the incredible 2005 Champions League final comeback in Istanbul, reckons the Gers manager will replace Klopp and it is no secret that the Liverpool legend will eventually manager Liverpool.

“He is ideally suited to it [Liverpool job] because he was a great leader and as a captain, he brilliantly managed our dressing room,” “Everyone knows that sooner or later the great captain will return.”

“When I was in Liverpool recently, it was no secret that Steven is the main and indeed, only candidate for replacing Klopp when he decides his time at Anfield is over.”

TBR’s view – When will Gerrard join Liverpool, and replace Klopp?

If Gerrard is to return to Liverpool as manager, it will not be for the foreseeable future. Klopp is by no means finished at Liverpool, despite winning the Champions League last season.

Toppling Manchester City and holding aloft the Premier League trophy will keep Klopp hungry until he finally achieves it. Even if he does win it, he is more than likely to remain in the hotseat. Gerrard will have to wait a considerable amount of time.
