Jerome Boateng comments on future amid reported interest from Arsenal and Chelsea

Jerome Boateng has told SportBild that he is to remain at Bayern Munich under Hansi Flick until the end of his contract, which will see the German remain until the end of the 2020-21 season.

Boateng, 31, has been linked with a move this summer as he looks set to enter the final 12 months of his contract. However, the 2014 World Cup winner remains a crucial part of the Bayern side making 24 appearances this season.

that both Arsenal and Chelsea want to sign the former Manchester City defender a player who has played more than 300 times for Bayern and has won the Bundesliga a whopping seven times.

Despite his current contract situation, Boateng is of the belief that Flick would rather keep him at Bayern until the end of his contract and lose him on a free rather than bringing in some cash for the German giant this summer.

“My contract in Munich runs until 2021,Boateng told Sport Bild,. “Under coach Hansi Flick, I can imagine fulfilling it. I owe Hansi a lot. If he weren’t the coach now, I probably wouldn’t be at Bayern.

“I know that the club has done a lot for me. As I know what I have done for the club. The club will always be something special for me. The combination of the city, fans and family feeling around the team is unique./p>

TBR’s view Boateng would not solve Arsenal’s woes

Arsenal have been desperately in need of a central defender for many years, one that can take control of the defence and shut up shop. Last summer, the club signed David Luiz, but given his unreliability, he has unsurprisingly failed to plug the gap.

Arsenal need a central defender that can be a leader, one that others can learn from. Boateng has the experience, he has the winning mentality and he has the leadership. But he is another central defender capable of a mistake.

Impressing in a Bayern side that dominate match after match, Boateng has hardly been tested but for Arsenal his defensive abilities would come under the microscope. A failure at Manchester City, Arsenal need to avoid Boateng.
