Jermaine Jenas hits back at Tottenham fan on Twitter about Carlos Vinicius
Jermaine Jenas has hit back on Twitter at a Tottenham fan, after he was called out for his assessment of Carlos Vinicius on live commentary during the Europa League win over Royal Antwerp.
Jose Mourinho’s side topped their group in the Europa League with a 2-0 home victory on Thursday night, with Vinicius and Giovani Lo Celso both on the scoresheet.
Spurs Twitter account ‘The Spurs express’ suggested Jenas was harsh with his opinion of Vinicius while commentating on the European fixture on BT Sport.
But the pundit and ex-Spurs midfielder has responded by stating there is more to the striker’s game than just statistics.
The 25-year-old forward now has three goals and three assists in his five Europa League appearances, as he plays a back-up role to talisman Harry Kane.
He was a summer signing that joined from Benfica on a season-long loan and has impacted games when he’s played this year, but Mourinho substituted him off the pitch just shy of the hour mark after he had score a tap-in goal inside the box.
Look I want the lad to do well and I’m sure he’ll Improve but…..I’m not the one who dragged him off the pitch after 58mins and just after scoring! But maybe I was seeing what Jose saw and not those stats your clinging onto.

TBR’s View:
It’s hard for anyone to play second fiddle to Kane, but Vinicius certainly puts a shift in every time he steps onto the pitch and it’s great to have genuine cover for the England captain.
The Brazilian striker scored a scruffy goal from close-range after Gareth Bale’s free-kick was denied against Antwerp and he’s not the most pleasing player on the eye, which is perhaps why some criticise him.
He’s not started a league match this season and it looks unlikely that he will, but his presence has allowed Kane some form of rest.
