Jermain Defoe sends Instagram message to Nathan Patterson after Rangers win

Nathan Patterson shone once again as Rangers secured a 2-0 win in yesterday’s Old Firm clash at Ibrox. After the game, the Teddy Bears youngster received a kind message from striker Jermain Defoe on Instagram.

The 19-year-old started the game on Sunday as Steven Gerrard’s men defeated fierce rivals Celtic 2-0 and once again produced an impressive display.

Patterson has been forced to wait patiently for a chance in the team this season but he’s now taking his opportunity with aplomb.

Following yesterday’s game, the academy prospect received praise from lots of Rangers stars, with Defoe particularly impressed with the teenage talent.

Patterson looks like being a star of the future at Rangers and he’s an exciting player for supporters to think about.

His chances in the first team have largely been restricted due to the form of James Tavernier who is currently the club captain at Ibrox.

All he can do is continue to shine, however, and his performances of late have given Gerrard some food for thought.

Patterson is a prospect of the club’s youth academy and one thing Gers supporters do like is seeing their own talent shine.

For Defoe, his struggles this season have come courtesy of a couple of niggling injuries which he’s collected.

He’s managed just five goals in 15 games and will see his contract expire at Ibrox during the summer.

Gerrard will have to decide whether or not he feels he can do a job moving forwards.

At 38, however, his chances of a new deal do look somewhat slim.

For Patterson, this is just the start though and Rangers fans should be extremely pleased with his recent performances.
