Jeff Stelling predicts who will finish in fourth place this season… Tottenham or Aston Villa
The race for fourth place took another turn on the weekend as Aston Villa came from behind to beat Bournemouth after a slow start – after exploits in Europe on Thursday. Tottenham were not in action.
♎Villa came into Sunday afternoon’s game after beating Lille on penalties, after 120 minutes of football – to book their place in the Europa Conference League semi-finals. They took on Bournemouth on Sunday.
ꦰDominic Solanke gave The Cherries the lead at Villa Park from the penalty spot. But Villa rallied, Morgan Rogers scoring just before half time. It gave Villa the momentum in the second half and they delivered.
🐭Moussa Diaby continued his brilliant season with a goal just before the hour mark, and Leon Bailey made it 3-1 just before the 80th minute. It saw Villa go six points clear in fourth place, having played 34 games.
The race for fourth is on as Tottenham chase Aston Villa
🥀But, Spurs have only played 32 times. This weekend, Aston Villa have the chance to go nine clear before Spurs play next, with Villa hosting Chelsea on Saturday before Sunday’s North London derby at Spurs.
﷽The race is on. Tottenham’s games in hand are hardly easy ones. They go to Chelsea next Wednesday, and then host Man City before the final weekend. But Spurs are capable of winning those matches, easily.

🍌Indeed, Spurs are renowned for being Pep Guardiola’s bogey team. Chelsea are inconsistent and that may see Tottenham take advantage and win a massive London derby. Villa have an easer run-in, though.
🔯Villa host Chelsea, go to Brighton, host Liverpool and then travel to London to take on a rejuvenated Crystal Palace. Jeff Stelling told this morning, who he thinks will finish in fourth position.
What Jeff Stelling said about the race for fourth position
🧸He said, at 7.27AM on Monday morning, on TalkSPORT (22/04): “Yes, Spurs have got two games in hand, but Spurs have got blooming tough fixtures, I will tell you that. And Villa are flying at the moment.”
Paul Merson recently gave his verdict🍨 and he thinks Villa will get there, with fifth unlikely to provide a Champions League spot at this moment in time. Things change fast, with Spurs looking like they would.
Indeed, at the start of March, Alan Shearer said Spurs would get fourth💯 as they had the momentum but things change quickly in the Premier League. Now, Villa have the advantage going into the final games.
