Javi Gracia once claimed Aston Villa-linked Will Hughes is ‘high quality’
Javi Gracia once spoke highly about Watford midfielder Will Hughes, who has been linked with a move to Aston Villa.
According to , Newcastle United and the Midlanders have registered their interest in the 26-year-old.
Hughes has just a year left on his current contract and the Hornets have been attempting to extend his deal. Hughes did claim at the end of May that he has ‘no thoughts’ of moving to other clubs.
Watford manager Xisco may have to sell his prized asset or risk losing him for free at the end of the upcoming campaign.
Speaking about the former Derby man, Gracia claimed the ace had ‘high quality’.
When talking about the midfielder, Gracia said: “I think he did a very good job in the time he was on the pitch. He was very clever made a very good assist and took care of the ball. I think he was very good for us.”
“He was out of the team for a long time because he was injured, but I did not need to stay with him long to know he is able to do different things for the team with high quality. He can do some things other players can’t.”

Gracia praise highlights Hughes quality, but, he’d saturate the midfield for Aston Villa
The praise from Gracia really highlights the quality Hughes possesses but a transfer would saturate the midfield for Aston Villa.
Dean Smith already has the ever-reliable duo of Douglas Luiz and John McGinn at his disposal. And then on the bench, the former Brentford manager can call on the likes of Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson.
Hughes does have the ability to play in the attacking midfield role. But, following the signing of Emiliano Buendia, it’d be a shock if the South American wasn’t a starter.
And in any case, the Englishman doesn’t possess the necessary quality in the final third to displace Buendia. The Argentine scored and assisted more goals than Hughes last campaign.
The Hornets ace has good quality, however, with all the numbers at Villa Park, a move would is far from a priority.
