Jan Vertonghen posts a cheeky Instagram video after Toby Alderweireld signs Tottenham deal
Toby Alderweireld has agreed a new Tottenham Hotspur contract until the summer of 2023 with his previous deal expiring at the end of the season – and Jan Vertonghen of him on Instagram.
Alderweireld, 30, was one of three players at Spurs who were set to enter January with six months remaining on their contract – allowing non-English clus to approach him, Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen on a free transfer under the Bosman ruling.
However, despite heavy links with Manchester United, Alderweireld has put pen to paper on a new deal with Spurs. It is believed the appointment of Jose Mourinho has altered the former Southampton star’s thinking.
Since the appointment of Mourinho, Alderweireld has played every single minute of Mourinho’s reign – helping Spurs beat West Ham United, AFC Bournemouth, Burnley, Wolves and Olympiacos.
The former Atletico Madrid defender has shown more passion when celebrating and his performances have more than increased. He is now set to add a large amount of matches to his 179 appearances for Spurs over the next three years.
Vertonghen – who is also out of contract at the end of the season – Alderweireld on his Instagram story which sees Alderweireld signing a contract in the air, along with an emoji of a bag full of cash.
