Jamie Shackleton may have earned a second-leg start for Leeds United
It is advantage Leeds United after the first-leg of their Championship play-off semi-final. A solitary goal from Kemar Roofe secured the win after a tremendous assist from Jack Harrison on the left-wing.
Leeds were the better side throughout the game and fully deserved their first-leg advantage.
They completed their task, despite the odds continuing to stack up against them. Not only was Pontus Jansson ruled out before the game but Adam Forshaw joined the club’s increasing injury woes early in the first-half.
However, his replacement put in a sensational performance.
Jamie Shackleton came into the game and put in a brilliant midfield display that had Leeds fans purring.
His energy and dynamism gave Leeds an extra dimension in midfield that Forshaw could not have offered.
Playing in his favoured central midfield role he looked at his best and Leeds fans were left happy Marcelo Bielsa was forced to call upon the 19-year-old. At times he has more often been used as a right-back or wing-back for Leeds this season. He clearly enjoyed operating in a more favoured central role.
Even if Forshaw does get himself fit for the second-leg, Bielsa will have to consider keeping Shackleton in the starting XI.
