The 19-year-old has given a glimpse into his potential when stepping up to the first team and there is so much more to come from him.
He made 24 senior appearances across all competitions this campaign and slotted in an unfamiliar full-back role for the team when numbers were short.
But he’s a central midfielder by trade and has also demonstrated his quality in that position.
Shackleton definitely has the tools to nail down a permanent spot in the Whites midfield next season.
He’s got an incredible work-rate that helps him dazzle in the centre of the park and his box-to-box style is a real asset.
Kalvin Phillips was the real success story this season for Leeds, as he became one of the first names in Bielsa’s team in the deep-lying midfield role.
The 23-year-old came through the academy and after year around the first-team has now become an essential part of it.
There is no reason why someone with Shackleton’s talents can enjoy his full breakout year next season.
