Jamie Redknapp says £20m Arsenal target is ‘one of the most underrated players in the Premier League’ right now

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Fulham’s Joao Palhinha, and Jamie Redknapp appears to be a big fan of him.

The Gunners are expected to strengthen their midfield in the January transfer window. They have been linked with quite a few names, and Palhinha, who almost joined Bayern Munich in the summer, is one of them.

Jamie Redknapp says Arsenal target Joao Palhinha is ‘brilliant’

Arsenal are very light in the middle of the park at the momen൩t.

Declan Rice is an undisputed starter, while Jorginho has been his backup. Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are both currently injured, which means the Gunners could really struggle ꧒if one of their two fit midfielders becomes unavailable.

That’s why Mikel Arteta‘s side have been linked with a number of midfielders ahead of the January transfer window. Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz has been named as their top target, while Martin Zubimendi has also been in the news.

Another player who has been linked with a move to the Emirates is Fulham’s Joao Palhinha. Fabrizio Romano claimed earlier this month that the Gunners ‘appreciate’ him, while Ben Jacobs revealed that Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder is ‘very genuine‘.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s game against West Ham on last night, Jamie Redknapp praise﷽d Palhinha.

He said: “He’s brilliant, Palhinha. One o💛f the📖 most underrated players in the Premier League.”

Palhinha is not a long-term solution for Arsenal

Joao Palhinha is a fantastic midfielder, there is a🧸bsolutely no debate there.

The Portugal international has been excellent for Fulham since he joined them for £20 million () from Sporting Lisbon🐲 last year🐭.

Palhinha would be a great fit at Arsenal, but the big problem is that he is 28 already. It makes no ⛄sense for the Gunners to spend a fortune on🌳 a player of that age, which is why we can’t see this deal going through.

However, if Palhinha somehow becomes available on loan until the end of the season, Arsenal should do everything they can to get him in. He could make a huge difference in the Premier League title race.
